Dance Librarians Discussion Group Virtual Meeting: January 12

Please join the Dance Librarians Discussion Group for our bonus virtual meeting on January 12, 2012 at 2:00 PM EST.  Our special guest will be author, Stephen Manes, whose recent book, Where Snowflakes Dance and Swear: Inside the Land of Ballet, provides backstage access to a major American ballet company, the Pacific Northwest Ballet.  Manes followed the company closely for over one year, documenting the 2007-2008 season and its aftermath in extraordinary detail.

You do not need to be a member of the American Library Association to participate in this chat, but you must register as a user at the ALA Connect site and sign up for the Dance Librarians Discussion Group community page.

Stephen Manes has written more than thirty books and hundreds of articles in a long career of making arcane worlds accessible to the uninitiated.  His columns on personal technology have appeared in The New York Times, Forbes, PC World, PC Magazine, and other publications.  Manes also was a creator and co-host of the weekly public television series “Digital Duo.”  His books include the biography, Gates: How Microsoft’s Mogul Reinvented an Industry—and Made Himself the Richest Man in America (1994).  Manes is also well known for his works for children and young adults, including: Be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days! (1996) and its sequel, Make Four Million Dollars by Next Thursday (1996).
